HARPER E. VAN ZANT

Harper E. Van Zant, son of Kinkaid and Matilda Van Zant, was born in Farmington, Iowa August 14, 1872 and passed away at the Burlington hospital, Burlington, Ia, Nov. 2, 1949 being at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 19 days.

He was united in marriage to Percy Priscilla Humphreus, at Farmington, September 20, 1899. She with his brothers and sisters proceded him in death.

He spent the greater part of his life in Farmington, working at various odd jobs and for a number of years was a caretaker for the Farmington Cemetery. He has been in failing health for the past three years and for the past fourteen months has been a patient in the Graham hospial in Keokhk.

He was the last member of his immediate family. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Hallie Van Zant of Farmington and a number of nephews and nieces.

Among his private papers was found his father's discharge from the Union Army.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Methodist church, with Rev. Marriott officiating. Interment in Farmingon Cemetery.
