James Southard Dies; Carpenter

James Jesse Southard died early this morning at his home at 1329 Ash Street. He was 72.

Born in Bieber, California, he moved to Oakland in 1913, and to Napa in 1920 where he worked as a carpenter for D.W. Doughty for many years before retiring in 1952.

He is survived by his wife Pearl Marie Southard of Napa, a daughter, Marie Louis Clark of Napa, two sisters, Joan Marie Clark of Napa, two sisters, Joan Marie Clark of Sacramento and Emma Dunlap of Anderson and two grandchildren Richard Barry Clark of Napa and Joan Marie Clark of Sacramento

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two p.m. at the Community Church in Adin, Calif., under the direction of the Treadway and Wigger Chapel. Burial will be in the Adin Cemetery.
