Mrs. Hugh Poe
Mrs. Hugh Poe, 80, Washington township, Lee Co., Iowa, died Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the Anna Ferris nursing home after an illness of two years.
Born May 10, 1872, near Revere, Mo., she had lived in Lee county since 1938. Lydia Lenora Christy was married on May 5, 1889, at Chambersburg, Mo., to Hugh Poe, who died Nov. 4, 1943. She belonged to the Methodist church at Granger, Mo.
The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Clements Chapel with the Rev. Carl E. Wilson officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
The deceased is survived by two sons, Elmer, Galesburg, Ill., and Clarence, RRI; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Bevans, Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. LaVerne Teter, Seattle, Wash; one brother, Fred Christy Quincy, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Anna (Robt.) Carter, Luray Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.-Ft. Madison
