MRS. CLARENCE CUMMINGS

Fern Gertrude Cummings passed away at her home in Bonaparte Feb. 13, 1955, 8 p.m. at the age of 64 years, five months, 27 days. Death terminated years of failing health. She was the daughter of George and Emma King Thompson. Her parents preceded her in death also four brothers, one in infancy. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Cummings, and two sons and one daughter, Harold, Marion, Iowa, Maurice, at home, and Hazel Kimbrough of Downey, Calif.; four grandchildren, Sharon Kimbrough, and Maurice, Jr., Robert and Ellen Cummings. Also surviving are three sisters, Lizzie Russell of San Francisco, Calif., Mary E. Warner of Bonaparte, Myrtle Blacksmith of Donnellson, Iowa, also nieces and nephews.

She was born near Bonaparte, living her entire life here except for a short time in California. On Sept. 16, 1908 she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Cummings at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

She was a member of the Bonaparte Methodist church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She attended whenever her health would permit.

She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and particularly the pleasure she derived from her grandchildren. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. Richard Eis were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bonaparte Presbyterian church with burial at Bonaparte cemetery.
