HAROLD CHRISTY MEEK

Miss J. June Christy of Bonaparte received a telegram last Saturday giving her the sad news of the death of Harold Christy Meek whom she had not heard from since 1904 and whom she and other relatives believed to have passed away. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Pemberton, New Jersey.

Miss Christy has requested further information as to the identity of the deceased, who, if he is her nephew, was a son of her sister Gertrude Christy, who was the wife of R. Flint Meek.

Harold was left an orphan at the age of 7 ½ years and made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Thom. Christy for several years, later with other relatives until he graduated from Bonaparte high school with the class of 1894.

He served as deputy postmaster with Phil Eich, also served Van Buren county as a county official.

He graduated in law from the University of Michigan in 1903 and hung out his shingle that year at Houston, Texas, under the firm name of Meek and Metzger.

He left Texas on June 12, 1904, wrote a letter to Waterloo, Iowa, to his grandmother, Mrs. Christy, stating he was looking for a new location.

This was the last letter they ever received from him, and the last direct news until the report came last week of his serious illness and death.
