ROY C. MURPHY

Roy C. Murphy, son of Frank and Elizabeth Murphy was born December 6, 1893 on a farm near Acasto, Mo., where he spent his boyhood days. As a young man he moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where he was engaged in the restaurant business.

In 1934 he furthered his business interest in Kansas City. It was at this time that he married Gladys Morris, later moving to Los Angeles, California, where he resided until his death.

He was a member of the Glassel Park Baptist Church of Los Angeles. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Gladys Murphy, one sister, Miss Gertrude Murphy; two brothers, Glenn and H. O. Murphy; one nephew, Clarence; and one niece, Mrs. R. L. Dobbs.

He departed this life September 4, 1946, having reached the age of 52 years, 8 months, 29 days.

Funeral services were held from the Farmington Baptist Church Tuesday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Maugans officiating.

Interment was in the Acasto Cemetery in charge of the Richardson-Anthony Post of the American Legion, with Oliver Munford, Jr., Color Bearer; Carl Bruggeman, Standard Bearer; Wm. Hols, Horton Tucker, Color Guard; Glenn Satterly, Dale Satterly, Richard Ramey, Harold Shriver, Francis Wood, Armin Lang, composing the firing squad. In command of Robert Satterly.
