MRS. CARRIE MORRIS

Farmington friends were saddened when they heard of the death of Mrs. Carrie Newmann Morris which occurred December 29, 1946 in St. Margaret’s hospital in Hammond, Ind. She had been in ill health for several months.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Snyder chapel with Dr. Phillips Brook Smith officiating. Interment was in the Hammond cemetery.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Newmann, Carrie was born on a farm in the Anson neighborhood, near Farmington, October 13, 1879.

They later moved to town and made the family home on Front St. She was married to Henry Morris, a carpenter who built several houses in Farmington. They left Farmington forty years ago and have since lived in Hammond where he became a contractor.

Mrs. Morris made many visits back to the old home town and was always loyal to her early day friends who called her affectionately “Cad”. She said the latch string in Hammond was always out to any one in Farmington whether she knew them or not.

Her pleasant disposition endeared her to all who knew her. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and active in it’s affairs; also9 of the Dorcas Rebekah Lodge, No. 263.
