MRS. JULIA HALES
Mrs. Julia Heald Hales, 88, Mt. Sterling, Iowa, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Sullivan, at Downers Grove, Ill.
Death came at 7:45 a.m., on Apr. 28.
Mrs. Hales had gone to Illinois to spend the winter at the homes of her daughters, Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. J. J. Dowling, the latter of Park Ridge.
A native of Richmond county, Kentucky, Mrs. Hales was born April 3, 1868, the daughter of Isac(sic) and Elizabeth Todd. The family moved to Missouri when she was a child. She had been a relative of Mt. Sterling for 25 years.
In 1894 she was married to Charles Heald in Scott County, Mo. Heald died Aug. 21, 1926, and in 1932 she married to Frank Hales in Mt. Sterling. He died in 1939.
Besides Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. Dowling, Mrs. Hales leaves another daughter, Mrs. Maude McElroy of Ottumwa, and two sons, Raymond Heald, Moline, Ill. and Russell Heald, Mt. Sterling.
Also surviving are two stepsons and a srepdaughter, Paul Hales, Wyaconda, Mo.; Ross Hales, Ipswich, South Dakota, and Mrs. Dell Scalese of Galata, Mo.
A son and two daughters died previously. They were Howard, Mamie and Marjorie Heald.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church, Elder H. C. Shaw, pastor of the Christian church of Cantril, officiating. Burial was in the Heald cemetery.
