Mrs. Ida Lydia Starr McLeland, 90, died Saturday, July 24 [1965] at 11 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua after an extended illness.
Born Feb. 27, 1875, at Keosauqua, she was the daughter of Robert Hillis and Mary Catherine Smith Starr. She taught school in Van Buren County prior to her marriage Dec. 20, 1899, to Harvey L. McLeland.
She was a member of the Cantril Methodist Church and was active in the quilting circle until her health failed.
Survivors include four sons, William Leith of Ottumwa, Clarence Craig of Memphis, Mo., Robert of Milton, and James of Keosauqua; three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Younker of Pocahontas, Ark., Mrs. Ve Ornduff and Mrs. Edna Robinson of Milton; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Will Starr of Galesburg, Ill. and Charles Starr of Orange City, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Ve Tweedy of Montrose.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children, six sisters, one brother and one grandchild.
The service was held Tuesday, July 27 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
