Lyle Maurice Teal, son of Fran and Dana Teal, and the youngest of a family of five children, was born on a farm near Stockport, Iowa, May 31, 1914 and passed away in the Burlington hospital, following injuries sustained in an accident at the ordnance plant at Burlington, Saturday Dec. 13, 1941, at the age of 27 years 6 months and 13 days.

In 1929 he moved with his family from the farm to Keosauqua where he entered the Keosauqua high school graduating four years later in the class of 1933.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his mother, two sisters, Mrs. Delbert Anderson of Charles City, Iowa, and Refa M. Teal of Keosauqua, and two brothers, Marvin A. and J. Norwood Teal both of Keosauqua, also a grandmother, Mrs. Eva Beans of Winchester, Iowa, and three nieces, Nancy Lee Teal of Keosauqua and Marita and May Anderson of Charles City. His father having preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1929.

After graduating from school, he immediately entered the employment of the Keosauqua creamery where he worked five years endearing himself to his fellow workers by always doing his work cheerfully and faithfully. Each year as he became more valuable and efficient in his work he took on more responsibilities faithfully discharging every duty. Wishing to go into business for himself, he purchased a café in Keosauqua when he successfully managed for three years. Here he endeared himself to hundreds of young people in all walks of life. He served the young men from C.C. camp with the same courtesy as that he extended to his own comrades.

He was highly respected by his fellow business men, meeting the demand of the public with fairness, never shirking responsibilities and always extending a helping hand to charity and often a guiding hand to young people. With these acts performed in his everyday life he was an example of the finest young manhood and was a source of joy and comfort to his mother.

Lyle was a member of the Methodist church in Keosauqua and was loved and respected alike by young and old. As far as his circle of acquaintance extended everyone delighted in his companionship and friendship.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. C.H. Orf and the Rev. F.J. James, were held from the Keosauqua Methodist church Monday afternoon, Dec. 15, 1941. Interment was in the Dibble cemetery.
