CHAS. W. CLAFLIN

Charley Wallace Claflin was born Oct. 27, 1877, near Lebanon, Iowa, and died suddenly Dec. 25, 1940, at his home south of Douds. He was the son of George and Emma Claflin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one broter, Hugh; and two sisters, Maude and Mayme.

On Feb. 22, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Glo Plowman of Douds, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Glo Claflin; one sitser(sp), Mrs. Edna Odle of Hutchison, Kansas, and by Letha and Helen Plowman, who have lived in his home since 1920. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews and by many friends.

He was a kind and sincere husband, and like a father to Helen and Letha Plowman, whom he reared and educated. He devoted his life to his home, to sacrificing for others and helping in community affairs. He was a true friend. He will be missed by all who knew him, for to know him was to respect him. He is gone but not forgotten.
