NEWTON BRECKENRIDGE

Newton Breckenridge was born near Selma, Iowa, on April 1, 1871 to Newt and Mary Breckenridge. He departed from this life February 10, 1944 at the age of 72 years, ten months and nine days.

On December 17, 1902, he was united in marriage to Mary C. Campbell at Keosauqua by the Rev. C.E. Perkins. She preceded him in death nearly twenty-six years ago. To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy. Clyde of Mt. Sterling, Claire of Rochelle, Ill., Dale of Cantril, Harold of Milton, and Mrs. Gladdy Morris of Mt. Sterling, a number of grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Jackson of Selma.

He had spent all of his life in Iowa and nearly all of it in Van Buren County where he engaged in farming.

He was active and worked until about four months before his death when he was stricken with a disease from which he failed to recover.
