Oscar Hootman Dies at Eldon
**Handwritten: Sept 8 1941

Former Van Buren Resident, 81, Survived by Wife, 2 Sons, 2 Daughters; Rites Today

Oscar A. Hootman, a former Van Buren resident, died at his home in Eldon at 8 o'clock Monday morning after being ill for 15 years and bedfast seven months.

He was born in Van Buren county June 17, 1860, and lived at Kilbourne during the early part of his life. From 1899 to 1910 he lived in Douds, and then moved to Eldon.

Mr. Hootman and Miss Flora Brown were married in 1904. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Leslie of Webster City and Chris of Eldon, and two daughters, Mrs. Florence Hemm of Eldon and Mrs. Marguerite Russell of Silvis, Ill. A son and a daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the Eldon Methodist church in charge of the Rev. E.M. Gregson and the Rev. G.W. Baker. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Eldon.
