ED J. BYERS

Ed J. Byers, son of Robert and Beulah Byers, was born September 2, 1876, on a farm near Douds, Iowa, and departed this life on March 1, 1949, at his home at Douds, following an illness of only a few hours duration. Age 72 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

When he was 3 years old his mother passed away and he then made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Harrington until he was 16 years old.

He was married Sept. 3, 1903 to Nora Loomis also of Douds. To this union was born one son, Van of Douds, Iowa.

A great part of his life was spent in farming in the Douds community with the exception of 13 years in Oregon in the lumber mills and 11 years in the filling station at Douds.

He was always known for being a good citizen and neighbor and his chief interests were his home and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 grandchildren, Mary, Edward, Katherine and Rita Byers.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and son, 2 grandchildren, Charles and Beverly Byers, one brother, Bert Byers of Portland, Ore., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at Pedrick Funeral Home. Interment was in Leando cemetery.
