KATHERINE BYERS

Katherine Lucille Byers, daughter of Van and Dorothy Byers, was born in the Jefferson County hospital June 11, 1942, and departed this life July 18, 1945 in the place of her birth at the age of 3 years, 1 month and 8 days.

At five weeks of age, she suffered an illness which caused her much suffering through her short life. She was a kind and loving patient, and very dear to the hearts of those who knew her.

The purpose of her life is exemplified by this bit of verse:

I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true
For the Heavens that smile above me,
And awaits my spirit too.

Katherine was baptized in the Douds Methodist church April 25, 1943.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister. She leaves to mourn her passing, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Van Byers and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Byers and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Young of Ottumwa, also a host of friends and relatives.
