NEWELL BROWN FUNERAL HELD AT DOUDS MONDAY

At his own request, private funeral services for Newell Brown, 80, were held at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds Monday afternoon. The Rev. Charles Albin had charge of the service.

Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Mabel Harding and Mrs. Delta Baayer, with Mrs. Grace Stephenson as pianist.

Mr. Brown died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at his home in Eldon after 12 years of failing health. He was born at Kirksville and moved to a farm east of Selma in 1903. He went to Eldon in 1935 to operate a trucking business and retired in 1943. Since his youth he had been a member of the Presbyterian church.

Surviving him are his wife; a brother, William of Spokane, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mina Lathrop of Ottumwa and Mrs. Ada Campbell of Ellensburg, Wash.

Interment was made in the Mt. Moriah cemetery with the following pallbearers: W.A. Carson, L.H. Laughlin, S.A. Parker, Robert Weidenbach, Clarence Koogier and Dean Wooley.
