Edna Lillian Bell, daughter of Eli and Sarah Ann Bell, was born in Washington County, Iowa, June 28, 1861, and passed away at the Peshtigo hospital Sunday, December 5, 1948, aged 87 years, 5 months and 5 days. She grew to womanhood near Keosauqua, Van Buren county, Iowa, teaching school for a number of years.

On June 14, 1893, she was united in marriage with Henry Sherman Brown of Lebanon, Iowa, after their marriage they made their home in Kansas until 1904, when they moved to Iowa, moving to Wisconsin in 1915 where they made their permanent home. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Pembine, Wisc., and remained a true Christian throughout her life. She devoted herself to her family and friends, always thinking of others before herself.

Although Grandma Brown had been in failing helath for some time, she was always cheerful and kind.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, her brother, James Bell of Keosauqua, Iowa, and infant sister, Elizabeth. Those left to mourn her loss are a son, Harold J. Brown, Pembine, Wisc., a daughter, Mrs. Irwin A. Anderson, of Denver, Colo., a son, James H. Brown, also of Pembine, Wisc., 16 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Evans Craig, Keosauqua, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at Pembine, Wisc., Tuesday, December 7, at 11 o'clock, with burial at Purdom cemetery, Keosauqua.
