He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister, Minnie Brownlee, and two brothers, Ezra and John Bartholomew.

He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family. He was always willing to do anything he could for anyone in any way he could. He became ill during the past winter and came to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Dale Wiley, where he has since resided. He had always lived on the farm and was always happy to be with his only son, assisting him with his farm work, where he passed peacefully away in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A great life has been ended and the mem'ries left behind
Will never be forgotten, for they are of the kind
That makes the heart rejoice to have been counted as a friend
To sorrow, though the life was long, to think it had to end.
A great man--great because he Taught the virtues all should know
Kindness, love and thoughtfullness to all he tried to show
And when you left, our grandad dear, you left any empty place
That no one else will ever fill.
We'll miss your loving face.
(Written by a granddaughter, Barbara Whitney).
