Jesse A. Jackson Rites Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Jesse A. Jackson, 79, were held at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. J.C. Austin of Keosauqua in charge. Special music for the service was given by Jay Doud, Forrest Hanshaw, M.H. Finney, R.V. Finney, with Mrs. Harold Harryman as pianist.

Burial was in the Mt. Moriah cemetery. Pallbearers were members of Celestial Lodge No. 413, A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Jackson passed away at his home at 312 East 4th Street in Ottumwa on Sunday, March 28.

Jesse A. Jackson, son of J.T. and Temple Prichard Jackson, was born near Selma, Iowa Nov. 24, 1869. He spent most of his life near Douds where he attended the Methodist church and Sunday School. He was a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges at Douds.

Surviving him are one brother, Frank Jackson of Ottumwa; four sisters, Mrs. Hilda Arbaugh, Allie Jackson and Mrs. Bertha Parks, all of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Edna V. Phillips of Glendale, Ariz.; two nephews, Charlie C. Jackson of Miami, Florida, and Ira Phillips of near Phoenix, Ariz.; and two nieces, Mrs. Rebecca Arbaugh Lawson of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Helen Parks Davis of Seattle, Wash.
