Mrs. Mary Griffin of Douds Succumbs

Fractured Hip Causes Death of Woman, 74; Son, Grandchildren Survive; Rites Held Saturday.

Mrs. Mary N. Griffin of Douds died at Ottumwa hospital in Ottumwa at 7:15 o'clock Thursday night as the result of a fractured hip suffered in a fall in the yard of her home about six weeks ago. She was 74 years old and had lived in the Douds vicinity about 35 years.

Her husband John Griffin, preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, L.L. Griffin of Douds; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Leando Methodist church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in charge of the Rev. E.K. Parrott. Singers were Mrs. Mabel Daniels, Mrs. Mabel Finney, C.E. Nicklin and Forrest Hanshaw, with Mrs. Lizzie Pollock as pianist.

Burial was at the Leando cemetery. The bearers were Dale Holcomb, Curt Pool, Harvey Harryman, Harold Harryman, Charles Benning and Frank Plowman.
