LEWIS ELSWORTH GIBSON

Lewis Ellsworth, only son of W.T. and Mary M. Gibson, was born October 9th, 1875 near Cantril, Iowa, and departed this life May 28th, 1947, aged 71 years, 7 months, 19 days.

An April 12, 1916 he was united in marriage to Ora Campbell of near Leando, Iowa, who survives; also one sister, Mrs. Florence Etheridge of Rohnerville, Cal. A half sister, Mrs. Stella Spencer of Pittsburg, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

His entire life was spent farming in and around Van Buren County, Iowa, until December, 1946, when his health gave away, he moved to Mt. Sterling, Iowa, to retire. During his good health, he was a good neighbor and also cared for his mother the last six years of her life. He was a very dear husband and will be remembered by the various communities of his friendship.

Last rites were held in the Leando Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. T. Warren, Keosauqua, Iowa. Interment was in the Leando cemetery on May 31.
