John Fitzgerald, 71, of 926 South Hancock street, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ottumwa hospital. He was born March 1, 1872 in Missouri, the son of Michael and Catherine Fitzgerald, and was reared in the Francis Knecht home in Van Buren county. He had been a resident of this community for the past 21 years and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. He is survived by an uncle, Mike Molumby of Cedar Rapids, and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from St. Patrick's Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. T.C. Donohoe. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Members of St. Patrick's parish will be at the Johnson funeral chapel at 8 o'clock this evening to recite the rosary.
