George W. Snelling, 67, of 235 South Moore street, died Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Ottumwa hospital.

Born August 20, 1882, in Van Buren county, he had been a resident of Ottumwa for the last 28 years. His marriage to Lillie Carter of Davis county took place in 1902. Mr. Snelling had been an employe of the John Deere Ottumwa Works for the past six years.

He was preceded in death by his wife on June 8, 1943; an infant daughter, his parents and one sister.

Mr. Snelling is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Willa Davis of Ottumwa; two sons, Harold W. and Stanley E., both of Ottumwa; four brothers, James of Douds and Ben, Elmer and Edwards, all of Ottumwa; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Vaughn funeral home in charge of the Rev. Vernon P. Pearson of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in the Bethlehem cemetery southwest of Eldon.
