ANGELINE SHAFFER
Angeline Shaffer, second daughter of George and Jane Rambo, was born August 27, 1853 near Zanesville, Ohio. She moved with her parents to Van Buren county when a small child and resided near Douds almost all of her entire life. She passed away Decemebr(sp) 26, 1943 at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 29 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Harryman.
In her youth she was united with the Brethren church to which she always remained a faithful member.
On October 6, 1872, she united in marriage to Emory Shaffer, who preceded her in death in 1938. To this union were born six children, two sons, Lee and Grover and one daughter, Mary Jane Smith preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. B.F. Nason, Mrs. Harvey Harryman and Miss Mae Shaffer all of Douds; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Eliza Parsons of Fairfield, Mrs. Allie Carter of Tieton, Wash., and Mrs. Rebecca Grimsley of Douds, one brother, Dr. T.D. Rambo of Ottumwa, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Nora Horn of Douds and a number of other relatives.
Hers was a sterling character, always bearing her misfortunes with great fortitude. Truly to know her was to love her. Funeral services were held at the Leando church on Wednesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. E.K. Parrott.
