JOHN CASEY
**Handwritten: 60John Casey, son of John and Julia Spilman Casey was born Feb. 5, 1867 in Tennessee and departed this life Saturday, Feb. 6, 1960 at the home of his sister and nephew, Mrs. Julia and Tom Sexton south of Douds at the age of 93. He spent his childhood in the Douds community. At the age of 18 he went to Montana, and for 52 years was employed by the Milwaukee railroad out of Miles City, Mont. After retiring as a conductor, he returned to Iowa and spent most of the remainder of his life in the Sexton home.
In 1909 he was married to Anna E. Plumley, who passed away in 1959. Remaining to mourn his passing are one daughter, Mrs. Joe Smith of Springfield, Ohio; the sister, Mrs. Sexton of Douds; and several nieces and nephews. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Casey was a member of St. Anthony Church at Eldon, the Elks Lodge at Miles City, Mont., and the Brotherhood of Railroad Conductors.
The High Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church by the pastor, Rev. K.C. Martin, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10. The Rosary service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, at the Pedrick Funeral home in Douds. Interment was in the Eldon cemetery.
