Death Comes To Helen M. Campbell

ELDON. - Mrs. Wallace Campbell, 64, died at the home of her son, Gifford Campbell in Eldon, at 11:20 p.m. Thursday after an extended illness.

She was born September 3, 1895, at Libertyville, the daughter of Elvona Dearmin Gifford.

She spent the early years of her life in Libertyville and Fairfield.

She was married to Wallace Campbell August 29, 1914, at Fairfield. They moved to Douds where they established a funeral and furniture business in 1914. She obtained her license as an embalmer and funeral director in 1919 and was one of the fewer woman embalmers and funeral directors in Iowa.

They moved to Eldon in 1924 where they were in the funeral business and where their two sons became associates with them, making them the first complete family of licensed embalmers in Iowa.

She was an early member of TTT and organized chapter W's TTT in Batavia. She was local chapter president in 1935 and national chairman in 1936. She was a member of Grand Hope chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Eldon Christian church.

Surviving are her husband, Wallace; two sons, Gifford of Eldon and Roy of Flint, Mich.; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary McBrayer of St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell funeral home in Eldon conducted by the Rev. Earl Menning, Christian church pastor. Burial will be in the Eldon cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. W.W. Campbell, above, of Eldon, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell funeral home there. The Rev. Earl Menning of the Christian church will be in charge. Burial will be in the Eldon cemetery. Mrs. Campbell died Thursday in the home of her son Gifford Campbell. She had been ill for several years.
