SADLER FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON
**Handwritten: May 2 - 46

Funeral services for Hal B. Sadler, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Logan Sadler of Selma, were being held this afternoon from the Pedrick funeral home at Douds. The hour, originally set for 2 o'clock, was later changed to 3:30, and might be delayed still further, awaiting the arrival of the sister who was due at Fairfield at 3 o'clock.

Attorney Jo S. Stong helped get his brother, Lawrence C., to the funeral by sending word as Red Cross representative of the county of Washington and the Navy department. Lawrence was landed at San Francisco and flown on by plane.

Young Hal Sadler lost his life in a tragic fire Saturday afternoon while he and his brother, Russell, were burning stumps in the Sadler pasture near their home. He died in the Ottumwa hospital Sunday morning.

The Rev. W.B. Roudybush was in charge of the service with interment in the Zion Lutheran cemetery. The Keosauqua Boy Scout Troop were pallbearers.

{Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Bailey of Keosauqua, Fae Sadler of St. Louis, and Mrs. Lena Carrier of Portland, Oregon; and two brothers, Lawrence c. of the U.S. Navy and Russell.}
