Murphy Rites Held At Douds Wednesday

Final rites for James Udell (Pat) Murphy, 35, were held at the Pedrick funeral home in Douds Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Robert G. Farr had charge of the services.

Special music was given by Forrest Hanshaw, Jay Doud, M.H. Finney and R.V. Finney.

Interment was in the Pittsburg cemetery. Pallbearers included Lloyd Nelson, Gene Russell, Edwin Walker, Paul Kemp, Harold Craig and Glenn Loomis.

Murphy was one of two men killed when their car was hit by a train Monday at Ft. Madison. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Shirley Ann, 14; a son, Barney, 11; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Murphy of Chicago; two brothers, Mick of Indiana and Leon of Eddyville; a sister, Mrs. Wilda Sankavich of LaGrange, Ill., and his grandmother, Mrs. Etta Long of Ottumwa.
