Mrs. Sarah Dille
BIRMINGHAM - Mrs. Sarah Ellen Dille died in Jefferson County hospital, Fairfield, at 4:50 a.m. Nov. 20. She had been hospitalized for one week.
The daughter of James and Martha Ann Davis Hodson, Mrs. Dille was born near Selma on may 24, 1872. On New Year's day, 1893, she was married to Edwin S. Dille at Salem. They lived in the Birmingham community for many years prior to Dille's death in 1950. Three brothers and three sisters also died previously.
Mrs. Dille is survived by three sons and two daughter: Wayne Dille, Pekin, Ill.; Clyde and Vance Dille, both of Birmingham: Mrs. Ferne Ruus, of Haverstown, Pa., and Mrs. Ina Hootman, of Keosauqua. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, including Mrs. Eva Johnston, who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Dille, 16 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Albert Hodson, of Mount Pleasant.
Last rites will be conducted by Dr. H.C. Irvine, pastor of the Birmingham Presbyterian church, at the Burch-Catcott funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery.
