Obituary of Mrs. Stephen Boyd

Minerva Ann Chalfant was born in Belmont county, Ohio, April 19, 1845, and passed away at the home her daughter, Mrs. H.L. Mecum at Man??, Oklahoma, June 30, 1923, aged 78 years, 2 months and 1 day.

She was united in marriage to Stephen Boyd, October 30, 1862, in Van Buren county, Iowa. To this union were born six children.

They made their home in Van Buren county until sixteen years ago they moved to Libertyville, where they lived until last September, when they went to spend the winter in Oklahoma with their daughter.

She leaves to mourn her loss the aged husband; two daughters, Mrs. H.L. Mecum of Mang??, Okla.., Mrs. John Buchanan of Denver, Col.; two sons, James M. of Fairfield, Iowa, George M. of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. G.W. Countryman of Birmingham, Iowa, Mrs. J.M. Morrow of Douds, Iowa. All of the children were present at the funeral. She was preceded in death by two children who died in childhood.

She was a faithful member of the Libertyville Methodist church, and has always been a true Christian and a kind and loving mother and friend.

The funeral service was held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, June 24th, from the Methodist church in Libertyville, in charge Rev. E.J. Shook, Elder of the M.E. Conference, assisted by Rev. Pritchard, pastor of the home church. Interment was made in the Fell cemetery.
