Mrs. Jean Whittlesey

BIRMINGHAM - Mrs. Jean Whittlesey died Feb. 3 in St. Joseph hospital, Ottumwa. Death terminated a long period of declining health.

A native of Birmingham, Mrs. Whittlesey was born Nov. 23, 1880, the daughter of David and Mary Spees Miller. In 1901 she was married to Ray Whittlesey. They were married at Birmingham. Whittlesey died June 11, 1941.

Mrs. Whittlesey was a member of the American Legion auxiliary and the WSCS of the Methodist church. She is survived by two sons: Verne Whittlesey, Chicago and Albert Whittlesey, Ottumwa; two brothers and three sisters, Bert, Quay, Rose and Lottie Miller, all of Birmingham, and Mrs. Ethel Johnston, of Oskaloosa, and two grandsons. One brother died previously.

The body is at the Burch-Catcott funeral home.
