DIED.--In Cloverdale Cal., Feb 4th, 1999, Mr. L.F. Fordyce, aged 38 years and six months.

Mr. Fordyce was born and raised in Iowa and there married. He came to California in 1886, seeking health and a few months ago located in Cloverdale. But the bright sunshine and balmy air of California failed to restore the lost strength, and finally the God who gave, called him home, where he will have no more sorrow and endure no more pain.

He was a good son, a loving husband, a kind father. His aged parents, his affectionate wife, his two dear little daughters and numerous warm friends are left to mourn his loss. His funeral sermon was delivered in the Congregational Church by Rev. Jones, from the text, "We have here no continuing city." His remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of people. He was interred in the Cloverdale cemetery, situated on a beautiful hill where the bright warm rays of the sun will rest lovingly on his grave from early morn till late at eve.

"Life and thought here no longer dwell,
But in a city glorious, a great and distant city
Have found a mansion incorruptible."
