Obituary of Mrs. Wm. Bott
**Handwritten: 1923

Katharine Deborah Barker was born May 13, 1849, near Mt. Zion, Iowa, and departed this life Oct. 14, 1923, aged 74 years, 5 months and 1 day. She was the eighth daughter of Joseph and Anna Barker, early pioneers, who came to this state in 1840. She was one of 17 children, three of whom remain: Mrs. Belle Calhoun of Birmingham, Iowa; Mrs. Theressa Sherod and Mrs. Sarah Perrine of Mt. Zion, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Wm. H. Bott in 1871, at the old homestead near Mt. Zion, coming to the present home, where she has always lived. To this union were born four children: Bertha Bell Burden of Pulaski; Susan Florence Channel, deceased; Lena Thressa Morrow, deceased, and Josephine May, who died in infancy. Besides her husband and daughter, who survive her, are the following grandchildren: Helen Channel; Crete, Dale, Florence and Dorothy Morrow; Ralph and Robert Burden, and many nieces and nephews:

She united with the Presbyterian church near Mt. Zion at the age of 17 and at the time of her death was a member of the Lutheran church near her home. Mrs. Bott was a conscientious christian, giving herself and her time to her family, friends and neighbors. Her sacrifice and devotion will long linger in the memory of those she loved. She is not gone but sleepeth to awaken in a fairer clime where there is no parting.

Funeral services were held at the residence of her late home, Tuesday, at 2 p.m., by the Rev. F.C. Behner, of Birmingham, Io. The music was rendered by the Williams quartet. Interment at the Zion Lutheran cemetery.
