Obituary of Nelse Brodene

Nelse A. Brodene was born in Sweden, May 26, 1853, and departed this life Nov. 15, 1925, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 19 days. He came to this country in 1870. He was united in marriage to Julia Jorgenson in St. Paul, Minn., Dec. 24, 1887. Soon after marriage they came to Van Buren county where they lived for three years, then moved to Davis county, Iowa, where they have since resided. Six children were born to this union of whom two daughters, Selma and Clara, who had grown to young womanhood, preceded him in death, also a sister Mrs. J.A. Erickson. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two sons and two daughters: Emmil, of Des Moines, Iowa; Clarence, Anna and Hannah at home; two grandsons, also one brother Hocam A. Brodene, of Troy, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. C.S. Graves, of Spokane, Wash., as well as other relatives and friends. He was a devoted husband and father. His illness was of long duration but he bore it patiently and expressed his readiness to meet his Savior. The funeral was held at the home, Tuesday Nov. 17, at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. S.A. Webster, of Los Angeles, Cal. Interment was in the Leando cemetery.
