Castilla Criss, daughter of Lloyd and Elizabeth Brown, was born January 1, 1857, in Leando, Van Buren county, Iowa. She departed this life February 28, 1934, at the age of 77 years and 2 months.

December 31, 1877, she united in marriage to John D. Criss.

Her entire life was spent in Van Buren county, with the exception of 6 years residence in Missouri.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John Criss; two brothers, Frank and Eddie Brown of Leando; two sisters, Mrs. James Loomis, of Douds, Iowa, and Mrs. Judd Brasfield, of Boise, Idaho. Another sister, Mrs. Eph Hewitt preceded her in death six years.

The funeral services were held at the Leando Methodist church Saturday, March 3, 1934, at 2:00 p.m., in charge of Rev. Merton D. Wyatt. Burial was in the Leando cemetery.
