Obituary of Mrs. M.L. Sadler

Addie E. daughter of Owen and Delila Lewis was born August 17, 1861 near Libertyville, Jefferson county Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On June 19, 1881 she was united in marriage to M.L. Sadler and they located near Douds in Van Buren county Iowa where they lived until ten years ago when they moved to Douds. On the morning of May 21, 1929 upon awakening her husband discovered that her life had gone out.

She was the mother of seven children: Charles G. of Ottumwa, James B. of Marathon, John L. of Selma, Herbert S. of Batavia, Georgia Ethel Trout of Douds, and Martin Luther of South Omaha. All of whom with the husband live to mourn and cherish her memory. Besides these she leaves twenty-three grand children and a sister Mrs. G.W. Rains, of Goodland, Kansas, and many other relatives in whose memories her life will paint a picture like the sunset's afterglow.

A number of years ago while she was not expected to live she requested that Rev. J.C. Austin should preach her funeral sermon from the 42nd Psalm. This request was complied with and the funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran church in charge of Rev. Austin who was assisted by the pastor Rev. C.H. Chader. Interment was made in the Zion Lutheran cemetery. Many friends from Libertyville, Birmingham and Ottumwa also George W. Rains and wife of Goodland, Kans., attended the funeral.
