Obituary of Robert Evans
**Handwritten: 1924Robert Benjamin Evans was born near Kilbourne, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1882. He died at his home at Douds, Iowa, April 28, 1924, aged 42 years and 24 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss May Roush July 6, 1904. To this union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters, one son Paul having preceded him in death. Those living are, Leta, Stanley, Leona, Jasper, Evelyn and Roberta.
Mr. Evans was converted some years ago and united with the Zion Methodist Episcopal church, on the Douds-Leando charge, of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was operated on for cancer, a little over two years ago and suffered a great deal in the last few months. He died in the faith of Christ, his Savior, whom he loved and trusted. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a splendid neighbor, ever ready to help anyone in need. We can truly say "A good man has gone to his rest."
Besides his faithful wife and children, he leaves his parents Clark Evans and wife, one granddaughter, Margaret May Burns, and three brothers, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held in the Douds church Tuesday afternood(sp) at 2:30, April 29, 1924, conducted by Rev. Chas. L. Ellis and Rev. J.C. Austin. The remains were buried in the Leando cemetery.
