GENEVIEVE M. ERHARDT
**Handwritten: 1931

Genevieve Margurette Erhardt, only daughter of Herman O. and Mattie Erhardt, was born Feb. 27, 1914, and sweetly fell asleep in Jesus, February 28, 1931, at her home near Douds, at the tender age of 17 years and one day.

She leaves to mourn her early departure, her parents, three brothers---Frederick, of Portland, Ind.; Samuel, attending State University of Iowa; Carroll, at home; one grandmother, Mrs. Samuel Roush, of near Douds, and many other relatives and a community of sorrowing friends. One infant brother, Lysle, preceded her in death.

Jennie, as she was commonly known, gave her heart to Jesus at a revival meeting held at Douds a short time ago and was baptized by Rev. Cline. During her short illness from pneumonia she knew her name was called by her loving Savior, and was ready to meet Him. The community will miss this one who grew up and lived her short life among us, but has now gone to eternity, to be with Him in whom her trust was stayed, a rose to bud on earth and bloom in heaven

Jennie, a junior in the Douds High School, was a very industrious student, and her loving smile and gracious presence will be greatly missed where she was so well known and loved.

Funeral services were conducted at the Leando church, Monday, at 1 p.m., by Rev. P. O. Cline and attended by a large crowd. The High School and teachers attended in a body to pay their tribute to their departed classmate. The honorary pallbearers were Helen Rush, Ermar Stearns, Margaret Erhardt, Bernice Kunzman, Madolym Archer and Greda Ward. The pallbearers were William Erhardt, Jasper Evans, Lindsay Erhardt, Huber Roush, Floyd Elsensohn and William Stearns, all first cousins of the deceased. Music was by the Leando quartette and was impressive.

She was laid to rest in the Troy cemetery.
