November 21, 1977Vet Nelson Dies At 86
BIRMINGHAM - Sylvester (Vet) Nelson, 86, died Monday in Parkview Care Center, Fairfield.
He was born Oct. 3, 1891 near Birmingham, the son of Meldon W. and Anna Elizabeth Anderson Nelson. A retired farmer, Nelson was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church, a World War I veteran and a charger member of Haney-Brannan American Legion Post 181 of Birmingham.
Surviving are one brother, Ben Nelson of Sequim, Wash.; three sisters, Rosetta Edwards and Beatrice Nelson, both of Joplin, Mo., and Annetta Nelson of Parkview Care Center; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with military rites.
