DEATH OF GEORGE W. RAMBO

Nearly 94 Years Old. Survived by Wife Aged 89, also 8 Children and 105 Grandchildren

George Washington Rambo, son of Henry and Rebecca Rambo, was s born in Muskingum Co., Ohio, Sept. 28, 1825, and departed this life July 3, 1919, aged 93 years, 9 months and 25 days, at his home in Leando, Iowa. On Sept. 7, 1845, he was united in marriage to Jane Eliza Fahr. To this union were born 13 children, 8 of whom are living. He leaves to mourn his death his wife aged 89, also eight children, David of Ottumwa, George of Glenwood, Mo., Charles of Pratt, Kan., Cyrus of Keosauqua, Mrs. Angeline Shaffer, Mrs. Eliza Parson, Mrs. Rebecca Grimsley of Leando and Mrs. Alice Carter of Mystic, also 49 grandchildren, 52 greatgrandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He emigrated from Ohio in 1856 and settled on farm in Chequest township, Van Buren county, Iowa. Being a potter by trade he combined the manufacture of stoneware and farming. He was one of the rugged pioneers that helped to clear away the forests that covered our now bountiful fields. His motto in life was the golden rule. He united with the Brethren church and was a faithful follower of his Lord and Master. Funeral services were held Sunday conducted by Rev. Wm. Heger assisted by Brother Ellis, at the home, after which he was laid to rest in the Leando cemetery, a large concourse of neighbors and friends being present.
