Norman “Ned” Winslow, 81 of 904 S. Third St. died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 3, 2000 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jane Rymut officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Heart Association or to the donor’s choice.

Mr. Winslow was born July 30, 1919, the son of Elgar E. and Sarah Troette Winslow. He married Dorothy E. Gustafson Oct. 18, 1941, in Memphis, Mo.

He lived in Fairfield for 63 years, having previously lived Packwood. He spent 37 years working as county engineer assistant for Jefferson County.

He served in the U. S. Army in World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was active in the Fairfield VFW and Elks Lodge 1192 of Fairfield.

Survivors include his wife; one son , Gary Winslow of Keosauqua; two grandsons; two great-grand-daughters; and one sister, Mildred, of Grand Junction, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one stillborn daughter; three sisters, Vena Speer, Faye Power and Louise Winslow; and four brothers, Arthur and Eugene Winslow and two infants.
