Frederick William Slonaker

The service for Frederick William Slonaker, 20, of Fairfield, former Birmingham resident, who died Monday, April 1, 1996, in Ottumwa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Birmingham United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nina Pulane officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Visitation will be open Thursday at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, with the family present from 7 to 8 that night. Memorials may be made to Birmingham First Responders or to ABATE.

Slonaker was born April 28, 1975, in Fairfield, the son of Larry and Connie Coy Slonaker. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1993. A talented musician, he was a professional guitarist. He wrote and arranged music and played lead guitar for Vision from 1989 to 1995. He had been employed at Creative Edge, Fairfield Tire, and Pizza Hut. He lived most of his life in the Birmingham community.

Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Angela L., and Christine B. Slonaker, both of Birmingham; his paternal grandmother, Vera Slonaker of Ankeny; several aunts, uncles and cousins. His maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather preceded him in death.
