Charles Johnson

BIRMINGHAM - Charles Edward Johnson, 73, of Birmingham died March 29, 1996, at Van Buren County Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Richland to Charles L. and Lenna Duke Johnson. He married Nita Faye Hodson on June 6, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo.

He graduated from Richland High School in 1941. He was a farmer and had worked at Iowa Malleable for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Richard and Dennis of Fairfield, Donald of Mount Pleasant, Raymond of Birmingham and Jeff of Eldon; two daughters, Diana Johnson of Lockridge and Kathy Kulenbeck of Mount Pleasant; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The body has been cremated.

A private family service will be held at a later date, with burial of cremains in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

The Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham is in charge of arrangements.
