-------------------------------Mr. D.H. Moore, the County Treasurer, Dies at New London. Death of Mr. W.C. Morris, an Old Settler of This County, at McVeigh.
David H. Moore.
David H. Moore was born at Zanesville, Ohio, Nov. 12, 1852, and died at New London, Iowa, July 7, 1900, being at the time of his death aged 57 years, 7 months and 25 days.
At the age of 17 he came to Iowa with his parents and settled about three miles north of Birmingham and in 1863, the family moved to Birmingham and his home was in this vicinity until the fall of 18?8 at which time he was elected to the office of treasurer of Van Buren county, which position he faithfully filled.
During the civil was he served his country as a loyal soldier.
September 12, 1867, he was united in marriage to Louisa v. McCartney and to them three children were born, two of which are still living, an only son, Roy, having preceded him to the better land in 1896.
At an early age, he was connected and joined the M.E. church and was a constant and faithful servant of his master all the time.
Mr. Moore was very fond of music and for 20 years, was constantly a member of the church choir.
In disposition he was kind and of an even temperament, and naturally drew a great many friends to himself.
He was a kind and affectionate husband, and father and of him it can be truly said, his faults were few.
