CHARLES M. BABER.
**Handwritten: 1903Charles M. Baber was born in McMinn county, Tennessee, April 21, 1832, and departed this life May 11, 1903, having lived 71 years and 20 days. He came to Iowa when very young, and enlisted in the service of the United States army, August 15, 1862, and served until the close of the war.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth L. Wilson, March 17, 1866. Mr. Baber was afterwards married to Nancy Wilson, January 5, 1867. Although he had been an invalid for six years, and for many years had been confined to the house, yet he bore his intense suffering with patience and trusted that God would in his own good time call him home. During his long illness, he gave his heart to the Saviour and united with the Presbyterian church of Bonaparte.
He leaves to mourn their loss besides a host of sorrowing friends, a wife, two sons, Oliver of this place and William C. residing in Silver Bow, Montana and two granddaughters, Elmer A. departing this life in infancy.
The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday, May 13, 1903.
