Death of Isaac Boyer
Isaac Boyer was born in Adams county, Pennsylvania, December 5, 1828, and departed this life in Keosauqua, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1903. He was the last of a family of nine children to be called from the labors of earth to the reward of heaven.
He moved from Pennsylvania in 1850 and located to Vernon, Iowa. In 1859 he moved to a farm four miles southeast of Keosauqua, where he resided until 1893, when he located in Keosauqua. He was united in marriage to Sidney Harryman Oct. 27, 1853. Four children, three sons and one daughter, blessed this union.
The daughter died in 1865. The wife and three sons and a large circle of relatives and friends are left to mingle their sympathies and tears.
The deceased was a sufferer for over two years with the malady which finally conquered. About five weeks ago it assumed a more acute form confining its victim to his bed all the time and at times giving him great pain. Yet through it all he was patient and perfectly resigned to the will of God. His life was an exemplary one, always having consideration for those with whom he associated. In all his business and social relations, he aimed to follow that divine injunction "Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."
His last days were full of hope for the future and he frequently gave expression that he was ready when God saw best to give the summons. His loss will be deeply felt throughout this community, upright life will remain to bless and comfort.
The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. church by the pastor Hardy A. Ingham, Monday, Jan 26, at 1 o'clock, p. m, after which interment was made in the Center Chapel cemetery.
