CATHARINE O. FULTON.

Died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Robert Sutherland in Keokuk, on April 8, 1903, Mrs. Catherine Oller Fulton in her 86th year. Having made Bentonsport her home for many years, and her husband James Fulton who died on March 12, 1865, being buried in the cemetery at that place, her remains were brough(t) to Bentonsport for burial. The funeral was held on Friday, April 10, 1903, at 2 o'clock p.m. in the Presbyterian church, Rev. Latham Ingham of the M.E. church of Keokuk, assisted by Rev. Butler of Bentonsport, conducting the exercises.

Her maiden name was Marley. She was born in Berkley county, Virginia, Sepember(sp) 21, 1817, and with her parents while quite young moved to Ohio near the city of Columbus. In 1850 she accompanied her husband to Iowa, and located at Fairfield coming to Bentonsport in the fall of the same year. Here he husband obtained employment in the Green Bros.' paper mill, making their home here for a quarter of a century.

Her home was always open to the Methodist itinerant. Her heart always responded in sympathy for the suffering and helpfulness to the needy. She was a good neighbor, a good wife, a loving mother, a safe counsellor(sp) and faithful friend.

She is survived by six children: Henry Fulton, postmaster at Bentonsport; William Fulton of Greenville, Texas; George M. Fulton of Roodhouse, Illinois; Mrs. Kate Duncan, of Hale, Iowa; Mrs. Caroline Liter, of Loxley, Alabama, and Mrs. E.T. Sutherland, of Keokuk; one brother, George W. Marley of Parsons, Kansas; twenty-seven grand children and forty-seven great-grandchildren.
