O.W. WEYER
**Handwritten: 1907

Oscar W. Weyer died Saturday morning, March 16, 1907 at his home in Keokuk, his death being entirely unexpected. He had been ill for a week but no serious result was anticipated.

He was born on a farm near Troy, in Van Buren county, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1854, being but a few days more than 53 years old at his death.

He graduated from the Iowa Wesleyan University and took teaching as his profession. He taught at Agency in 1877 and then went to Bentonsport for five years. He next was principal at Bonaparte and from here went to Keokuk in 1884 to become principal of the Wells school. Nine years later he was made superintendent of the Keokuk school and held that position until three years ago when he resigned to take the secretaryship of the Stand and Insurance Co. of Keokuk.

He was married in 1900 to Miss Anna Campbell who survives him, together with a daughter, Esther.

He was an excellent teacher and made a splendid record as teacher in Van Buren county and in Keokuk. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, a member of the board of directors of the Y.M.C.A., and also one of the directors of the Keokuk Commercial Club. His untimely death is a source of much regret to a wide circle of friends.
