George B. Williams Dies In Arizona
George Baker Williams, for many years a resident of Mt. Zion community north of Keosauqua, passed away Feb. 16 at Phoenix, Arizona, his home was in Mesa near Phoenix. For a number of years Mr. Williams was employed by Van Buren county on bridge work before he moved to Arizona.
He was born Jan. 24, 1873 in Van Buren county. His sisters and brothers living are Henry Williams, Bonaparte route 2; Owen P. Williams, Ottumwa; Arch Williams, Ottumwa; Mrs. Anna Barker, Highland Center; Carrie Gardner, Ottumwa, and Cephas Williams of Mesa, Ariz. He also has several nephews and nieces living in Van Buren county.
Funeral services were held Feb. 18 in Meldrum Chapel at 2:30 p.m. in Mesa with the Rev. Walter Hofmann officiating. Soloist was Frances Hansen and organist Inez Meldrum. Pallbearers were Guy Bell P.G., G.E. Robinson P.G., W.W. Mitchell P.G.M., Paul Dexter P.G., O.E. Turley P.G. and F.V. Austin P.G. The concluding service was at Mesa cemetery with committal by R.B. Findley P.G.M. and T.S. Golden P.-C.
