MRS. ANNA BARKER
Mrs. Anna Barker, 81, long time resident of the Mt. Zion community north of Keosauqua, died at 3 a.m. April 10 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Hammersley of Highland Center. She had been ill for six weeks and was bedfast during that time. She had spent the last four years with her daughter. Most of her life she had lived in Mt. Zion and later at Douds.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Cora Wilkins of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Clara Scovel of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Alice Hammersley of Highland Center and Mrs. Ray Barnett of Hillsboro; five sons, George, Webb and Emmett Slutts of Ottumwa, glen Slutts of Cedar Falls and Elmer Slutts of Pilot Hill, Calif.; one stepson, John Slutts of Ottumwa; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Martha Utterback of Mesa, Ariz.; four brothers, Cephas Williams of Mesa, Ariz., Arch and Owen Williams of Ottumwa, and Henry Williams of Bonaparte; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Gardner of Ottumwa, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Slutts, in 1929, her second husband, Tom Barker, in 1944, and two sons and one daughter.
